The Crew Behind Logan County Tree Co.

Brett Aper grew up on a farm outside Mount Pulaski and spent four seasons clearing lines across Logan, DeWitt and Sangamon counties before starting Logan County Tree Co. in 2014. The habits stuck: set the rigging first, take the tree down in sections, and know what is under it before a cut.

Lincoln's trees are old and mostly planted: white and bur oaks around the courthouse square, silver maples on the residential streets, cottonwood and sycamore along Salt Creek and Kickapoo Creek. The ash are dead or dying, and derechos and winter ice do the rest. That is the work we see every week.
